MyHeritage to the Rescue! Working on Coronavirus Testing

MyHeritage, a company based in Or Yehuda, Israel, recently came to the country’s rescue. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, when the entire world is in desperate need of all the medical help they can get, MyHeritage stepped up to the plate.

MyHeritage, a DNA testing company with millions of users, uses the same medical-grade cheek swabs that are needed to collect the notoriously-sneaky SARS-CoV-2 virus, the virus behind the COVID-19 pandemic. The Israeli Ministry of Health desperately needs testing swabs in order to ensure that the virus is not traveling across borders or within cities.

Luckily, the MyHeritage supplier had an emergency supply of testing swabs hidden away just for MyHeritage. When Gilad Japhet called his supplier, he told them it was definitely an emergency and they quickly made an agreement to get the swabs to Israel as quickly as possible. In all, MyHeritage essentially made a $10 million donation to the people of Israel. That’s stepping up in a challenging situation!

While the financial cost of procuring such a large donation of swabs was not in the company’s best interest, Gilad Japhet has said he was happy to do it for the State of Israel. In times like these, it is great to know that top executives are looking out for the health and wellbeing of their countries!
